Hi, I've been trying to find info on this preamp, anybody owned this or had any experience with preamp? How would you describe this preamp?

Thank you.

I don't know about the Athena II, but I do have the Athena and like the preamp a lot. very smooth and somewhat tube like. I don't find a lot of coloration in this amp. I use it for my controller for phono and SACD player. It is susceptable to hum from the phono stage if your not very careful about close proximity electrial cables and other input feeds. You can get a review of the Athena from 'Audio' in August

Thanks Jeff, same here, I find the Athena II very transparent and neutral, the one I have don't have the phono module so I'm not experiencing any hum at all, the athena is currently doing exceptional job together with the Krell power amp, the sound is very detailed, dynamic especially if I switch to direct mode on the preamp...I love the synergy of the krell and the athena, the best I've ever heard so far...I'm now pondering on the bryston BP-25, i have no idea how it will compare with the athena...and how it will match up with the krell...
