cherry stereo rack with adjustable shelves.
regrading my cd player(cambridge AZUR 640c v2)
if i place a shelf directly above the unit, with say giving it about a space of 1/8 inch.will that effect the unit in anyway? i know the amp needs breathing room, but not sure about the cd player.
if i place the shelf that close to the cd player i have enough room above it for my ipod and it's universal dock.

CD players don't need any breathing space as such. Nothing likes to be boxed-in of course but what you're suggesting sounds fine.

Mitch, that is the studest post I have seen for a while.
Louis offers his honest advise, and you blow it off like THAT!?

Good thing I didn't offer the same advice(I would) or you would poo-poo me as well.

Somebody got some 'splainin to do Lucy!

SK has his own ideas about things, and thats fine.
King has heard a bunch or music, and stereo's in his time.

If you come to ask, that's one thing.
If you come to tell, you had better be well armed.

OK, Mitch, but blowing off good advise while waiting for the big guns is not the way to run a railroad. The big guns will show up, have no fear.
In the meantime, the 640 does have a small torroidal power supply, thus needing a bit of venting. Do not(!) stack the player on any other equipment!
The cdp is a low consumption unit, but designed to stand alone, even if the cords are too short(you aren't using the box-stock red and whites?) so place with care.

Give it more breathing room than 1/8 inch.

thanks again guys, art actually it is closer to 1/4"that still might not be enough room?
nuck-i use audioquest for interconnects sidewinder(cd to amp,and i even have the arrows pointing the right way!,a NRG-2 powercord, and mini 1 for ipod.
and they aren't stacked right on top of one another but on adjustable wood shelves.all plugged into a panamax power strip.

Thanks, Mitch, the info means a lot.
Best advice is for the max clearance available, makeable if need be.

makeable being breakdown you current arrangement and re-thiinking the ventilation.
Do-able is just getting by.

Hoping the makeable is your course.
And clean it all while you are at it?

Razzin' ya mon.

Great choice of cables.

It's ok with me Nuckie boy. Since when am I the 'newbie' round these parts though Mitch? I've been a member longer than a lot of the "big guns"
I'm called Adam though guys, not Sun. Sun King is the title of a song I like and on reflection not the best forum name...Louis 14 would perhaps be better!

Unless you change your forum name to Adam I'll never remember. I'm great with faces but names....I have to say them several times before I remember. Join me Adam in using your real name on the forum...go where no man has...well you get it!
