I've been kicking this around for a little while now. Can you spot HI-FI components in TV shows, movies, etc? Please no Sony or Bose type mass market stuff. Here's what I've seen lately -

Martin Logan speakers - Friends - Joey and Chandler's apartment

Martin Logan speakers - Malcolm in the Middle - Family's garage/shed

McIntosh Seperates - The Departed - Woman listening to surveilence tape in her apartment

Sota turntable - House, MD - In House's office

NAD AVR - The Italian Job (new version) - "Napster's" house

The doctor's home in 'The Bourne Identity'.
A B&O setup, can't name it.

Abyssmal sound. Great eye candy.

I watch alot of HGTV and spot gear all the time. The challenge is to get the brand right with the first glace.

The MartinLogans in "The First Wives Club" end up with a decent amount of screen time. They are featured for a couple of minutes rather prominently when the "interior designer" tries to get the girls into the penthouse.

"I watch alot of HGTV and spot gear all the time. The challenge is to get the brand right with the first glace."

And all this time I was thinking I was the only one watching House Hunters. Its one of my wife's favorites, and it somehow grew on me like a fungus.

I've seen a B&W set up or two, but that's about it. Mainly Bose or in-wall/ceiling speakers.

The place you'd figure you'd see the most hifi gear would be MTV Cribs. I've never seen any good hifi on that show. With all the Pop/Rock/Rap musicians showing the inside of their homes, you'd figure some of them would have a great set up. Not a single one that I've seen.

Is it just me, or are Martin Logans taking over? Then again, they generally are the most distibctive looking speakers without being way over the top. Maybe a favorite of producers looking to place distinctive products that don't scream out for attention?

there was a rapper on Cribs that had a pair of MartinLogan Clarities paired with either a depth or descent, I just can't recall who it was. I want to say it was 50 Cent, but don't quote me on it.

This was mentioned in the MartinLogan forum a while ago, so my info may be a bit rusty.

Stu, you are right. I would expect to see some SMOKIN set-ups in a few of the mansions.

Even if only to listen to their own stuff.

A lot of really good studio's to be had, I am sure.
