Gotta hate the marketing terms because they're so general.
When most people think of satellite speakers they think of a single driver or small two-way bookshelf that will need a bass unit of some type to fill in the bottom end. At the same time, there are plenty of floorstanding speakers that need bass units as well.
(bass unit = "subwoofer" to the uninformed)
Are 901s "satellite" speakers? I don't know, what do you think? I don't recall Bose marketing them as such.
