Can anybody tell me why my DVD player lacks depth (flat, lacking bass) while listen to a cd or watching a movie? If I watch a show thru my direct tv receiver the sound is so full of depth and is incredible. Is there any DVD players you would recommend for listen to cds?

Thanks!

Both. Brian, look for Oppo players, they seem to have a good following on a budget.
If the budget is more flexible, the options are a bit higher.

Tell us what you have, and your usage?

Nuck - This is my set up for listening to music in stereo. DVD player is Samsung HD-931 conected to Onkyo receiver TX-NR900 by a Acoustic Research Digital Co-axial Audio wire. I'm using the Onkyo receiver as a pre-amp that is connected to a Yamaha M-65 amp. Speakers are Polk RTI150 using Monster Cable Z2 Bi-Wire. Not sure what RCA cable I have running from the Onkyo to the Yamaha.

Thanks in advance!
Brian

Brian, a cd player is required for you now.
Keep the dvd player, of course, but try a cdp when you can.
Do you run a sub?

Nuck, I have a Polk PSW505 sub woofer, not really a fan. Do you have any suggestions on cdp and rca cables? I appreciate your help!

Brian, the budget is a factor here.
I see no need to overdo the player, just get the source on track.
I would suggest maybe a Nad player.
Like the 325, as opposed to the 542.
Yes, an entry level Nad will open your ears a bit.
