Hey Art, Chris Botti once again. You played that yesterday. He plays wonderfully, doesn't he. Don't you find the sound quality of his CD's very good?

Cheers,

George

I just picked up the CD yesterday George. It does have very good sound. I'm not a big Botti fan as I really, really don't like smooth jazz. He is a local boy and went to high school where I lived for over 20 yrs and where I still work (Corvallis, Oregon) and so he has a pretty good following here. I can't much fault his playing as it is very good. I'll have to look through his catalog and see if I can find some of his least smooth jazz sounding records...any suggestions would be welcome.

Art, I have the latest one, Italia and the one he release before December, which is: To Love Again. They are both smooth Jazz but I just love the way his trumpet sounds on those trakcs.

Hey Art, I've love very quick sounding jazz with lots of drum and cymbal play; however, I'm looking for something that is reference quality, exceptional recording in CD format (could be some type of high bit master). Do you have any suggestions??

George why don't you try Manu Katche - Neighbourhood. Katche is a drummer and has a great command of his instrument. As usual with ECM it's a great recording. There are a bunch of other great ECM recordings that would fit the bill for ya, but I would start with that one.

A Winter's Solstice - Windham Hill Artsists

Neil I love ya man but my wife and I would rather listen to Wilco or some Mary Gauthier or even Lucinda Williams and cuddle than any smooth jazz it, just doesn't work for us.

We ain't too sophisticated, we'd prefer a glass of good bourbon and a Johnny Cash record to Chris Botti and champagne...lol!

David: David Bowie Let's Dance, sweet album, which I have on vinyl

Mike: Don't have vinyl in any other colour than basic black. I'll need to find something.

They say that virgin vinyl albums held up to a bright light are translucent. Has anyone tried? But that's for another thread.

On right now, Jack Johnson - Brushfire Fairytales.

Yup Dave. And even better is that the Let's Dance album, I picked up in the 80's in London, England. Who would have guessed I'd be still playing it 20yrs later. Nostalgic moment...lol.

Keeping spinning them Art. I don't see a lot of vinyl on...arn't you getting use out of the P3-24?

Oh, BTW, does the 24 in p3-24 stand for 24volts, which is what I believe the motor works off?

The Van Halen is translucent as is my blue Wish You Were here. I have a number of colored vinyl, the only one which may not be translucent is the white Beggar's Banquet. I have an etched Tool album also which if I recall is translucent too. I used to know what the rule was for translucent but I forgot. I will post if I remember.

No kit and very little music. What I do have I'm playing through my laptop speakers or the dvd player. On the bright side there is no snow, (not to sound like Scrooge but nearly 50 years of shoveling can do that to you), but there are plenty of palm trees to brighten the day.
Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays everyone!!
