I have a Kenwood Sovereign surround sound reciever model VR-5080. The problem is that when the power button is pressed it simply clicks as if its turning on then off. I have some experience with electronics so I opened it up and noticed that if I unplug the power transformer the power light seems to come on and stay on. I'm just wondering if its a good idea to try to replace the transformer or if theres something else I need to check first. Any advice would be appreciated. |

Check for shorts on the load side of the transformer wiring as well. Diode check the outputs, they should all read the same values, if one beeps from leg to leg and another device doesn't, the beepers bad. There are 3 connections to be made with 2 leads and 3 pins. Do the test once with the black lead in your left hand, then repeat with opposite hand. If you already knew this, I am answering the question only, not the asker directly. |
