I just bought me a pair of polk monitor 50 floorstanders. I currently have a Yamaha Htr-5740 receiver. I am curious as to how much I would have to spend in order to really get some noticeable sound difference when getting a newer receiver. Is the one I have now fine enough? If anyone can recommend any good receivers let me know. Thank you very much. |

I was looking at stuff like the Yamaha RX-V1600 and the RX-V1600 Yamaha. What effect will these have on my music and overall sound. I do not have a HDTV by the way and not using any multizone settings. I just watch really good sound!!! |

Tommy...relax. Your receiver will deliver quite good sound with your speakers. If, in the future, you want to find better sound(as do we all), you will have time. Enjoy your set-up, add a sub, and enjoy!. |

Tommy, your biggest improvement will come from moving from the generic DVD players many people use as CD players to a quality CD player. Many deals on the internet for used ones. What are your other sources and connections? |
