i am thinking of buying this reciever but have a question. on older recievers a turntable has a ground connection but newer one don't. does the turntable need to be grounded or is there built in circuitry that takes care of this? some might ask what a turntable is but i have albums that i bought as far back as '65 and still like to listen to one once in a while.
thanks.

Bill -
Most new receivers don't have a true phono input. I don't know the receiver you mention, but I'm willing to bet that it doesn't. It may have an input labeled phono, but their's legal ways around calling it that without it really being one.

A couple of ways to help you determine what exactly it has -
Does it have an MM/MC switch?
Does any of the literature give specs of the phono input?

You'll probably need to buy a seperate phono pre-amp. As with everything else in this hobby, they range from very little money to new BMW money.

Most all turntables still need to be grounded in the manner you speak of. If the receiver does have a true phono input but no grounding post, you can loosen a small chasis screw on the receiver, wrap the ground wire to it, then tighten it back down (not forcefully though).
