Hi, there's an NAD 5100 for sale on Craigslist. Do the new NAD CD players just have more bells and whistles? is the sound going to be good? If I buy, it will be used w/a NAD C372. Thanks. |

Haven't heard the 5100, but I doubt the sound will be as good as the C542 which, for the money, is a very well regarded player. I use mine with the c162/c272 which is very similar to the c372. On older players, the laser may be nearing the use-by date, though some can last a very long time. Something to think about. |

Good point MR, ALL player, at some point, play out. The older ones do not have as many hours of life as the newer...Or do they?..Hmm... |

So much for buying an older CD player, then. I myself was looking for something to start out with, but wasn't aware of the "use by date" limitations. I guess I better stick with recent vintage stuff, then. Good to know, though! |
