I've enjoyed my Yamaha for many years, but it suddenly quit outputing any sound. When the power is on, the power light on the volume control just blinks. The tuner indicates a strong FM stereo signal, but nothing comes out of any of the speakers - I did check that they were selected and checked that wires were connected. Same with all audio sources - DVD VCR and cable box.

Yamaha's web site is worthless for trouble shooting. I couldn't even find the manual.

Is it time to start looking for a new receiver or is it feasible to repair?

Thanks for any info,

Old Fogy

Jaw,

Thanks for the link to the manual. I just looked at the US site - D'oh.

Unfortunately the troubleshooting section didn't cover my problem.

Jaw,

I went back and looked at the feature description and there it was - the light on the volume control will flash when the Mute on the remote has been pressed. I never used the Mute button, but my grand daughter loves to mash buttons. We probably left the remote within her reach and didn't notice when she pressed it.

Thanks again, you just save me a lot of aggravation.
