Hi, I have a NAD C540 cd player. I recently (actually it was 4 years ago) shipped it from milwaukee to new york, and when it arrived, though it powered on and seemed fine in most respects, the cd tray/drawer will not open. I can't figure out how the mechanism works. Has anyone had this problem before? Know how to fix it?

Open up the case and poke around.
Or send it to the shop for repair.
