I just got an RX-V450 in the mail today and tried to hook up a set of 4-ohm stereo speakers to it, but the thing won't turn on. When I hit the power button, I just hear the little power supply relay switch go "click" and then nothing... No lights, no sound, nothing. Does this receiver require that you have all 6 channels hooked up to appropriate speakers? It won't just run a front left and right? Does anyone have any ideas? Did I get a dud shipped to me? Thanks for any help, Brian |

Try connecting no speakers. See if it stays on then. The unit may require you to change the ohm settings before connecting speakers to it. If that does not work. Call yamaha. |

It could be the 4 ohm speakers. If possible try some 8 ohm speakers or as James suggested no speakers at all. If that does not help it could be a faulty unit. Also RTFM. |

Thanks for the info guys... Unfortunately, I have tried all of the above with no dice. I think UPS dropped the thing and broke it. It's going back... Cheers for the help, though. -Brian |
