OK...so days have gone by and I am still weighing everything on my sound system for my home theatre. I am looking for a few things: 1) Stylish Speakers that are wall mounted 2) Quality Sound 3) A Decent Receiver that can switch my different HD sources This is what I am considering at this point. I may be going overboard on the receiver, but am looking for ideas on that. Receiver Choice #1 HK AVR 635 - $599 http://www.jr.com/JRProductPage.process?Product=4020306 Receiver Choice #2 Pioneer VSX-1015TXK 7.1 Channel Surround Sound THX http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00092REF8/ref=ase_interactiveda296-20/104-1160 272-3579938?s=electronics&v=glance&n=172282&tagActionCode=interactiveda296-20 Speakers: Onkyo SKS-HT240 http://www.vanns.com/shop/servlet/item/details/544235748 What does everyone think? Any other suggestions? Style is important on speakers as well as the sound quality. All the reviews people rave about these speaker for price/value ratio. Thoughts? Also...are these receivers able to output to a 6.1 system?

If you don't do much music those Onkyos might fit the bill for $350, though the sub probably makes that $120 Dayton sub from partsexpress.com look like caviar. btw if you do get the Onkyo speakers there's no point in spending that kind of money for the HK or Pioneer, I wouldn't spend more than $200 on the receiver because you're highly unlikely to hear the difference. |

makes sense...so I gouess my question would become...how do I create a high style system for that price range. As you may remember Edster from previous posts, I do have a sub and rears I could potentially use. I really want the front and center channels to be wall mounted and really cool looking though(to keep my wife happy). Then...I need a receiver to pull it all together. ohhh...such a hard decision with far too many choices. |

You're unlikely to get compact and stylish front speakers in the pricepoint you are working with, unless you are willing to take a considerable step down in SQ. http://www.crutchfield.com/S-fs7lfN6Od6e/cgi-bin/prodgroup.asp?g=230150&pg=2 The best you can hope for is simply compact, like the Ascend HTM-200s or the Mirage Omnisats or the Orb Audios. |
