I have a problem with my Marantz SR5500. It keeps shutting down intermiittently while it is playing. Sometimes it gives an message " Check POW5". I can also hear relay clicks as if it is trying re-start. If I switch off and ON it keeps working without any issues for sometime then it repeats. Has anyone seen this behaviour ? I rechecked all my speaker cables connections for any short etc.

vwake:

It sounds like you have a bad relay on one of the channels (hence the message "Check POW5"). The relay is part of the thrmal protection circuit that protects the amp from overheating. It may be defective, so have it serviced.

Hawk: Thanks for your input.
Sending it to service is a trouble from where i stay. Is there anything I can check on my own before I send it to service ?
