I am experiencing a strange error on a specific CD. About half a second of music is missing, and this spot is also accompanied by an unpleasant "digital" sound, similar to a skipping CD. I have had the CD replaced by the shop, thinking that was where the problem was. However, the replacement does exactly the same. Having now tried playing the CD on my Mac, it works fine. I find this very puzzling. Does this have anything to do with the error-correcting capacity of the CD player, or is this simply a freak problem that can occur at random? Any illumination would be greatly appreciated.
