Any thoughts on the pros and cons of front firing vs. downward firing sub drivers?

For no reason other than sound (is there any other reason) I far prefer downfiring subs. I owned front firing subs for years and just find setup with a downfiring sub much easier. It's the primary reason I recommended the Outlaw to you Rich. It's an 8 incher and downfiring, the price is right, sounded like it could be a winner in your space. Musically, however, I prefer downfiring sealed enclosures but now you're talkin' real money.
