if you can up your budget by $99, I would say the MartinLogan Dynamo hands down. In the price range that you specified, I would look at HSU research. |

SI mag 15 would be great. I just got a 12 for my HT and will hopefully have it all up and running for you all to see this weekend. I just wanted something I knew would be loud and would hit all the lows I wanted to hit in my HT setup. |

for mostly movies I'd get the SVS PB10 if you want the really low low LFE. otherwise the Mirage S12 at vanns.com is a great deal, b-stocks are just $340, and a-stock $400 shipped when they come in a few weeks from now. |

the PB10 is unabashedly boomy for music use, eddie. Therefore it really negates its use as a HT sub. |

ed... re-read my post please... it said and I quote "therefore it really negates its use as a HT sub" if you have a sub that can't reproduce music properly, you will still end up with a $hitty sub, no matter what.

I disagree. HT just requires going as low as possible while being as loud as possible. That's why SVS subs are so popular for HT, and rightfully so. Music requires the sub to be really precise and fast, and extension under 30-35Hz is pretty much superfluous. Unless you are one of the .005% of people who watch movies just to listen to the music soundtracks of course. |

Lots of people on the forum have the Hsy STF-2 and like it. I have the STF-3 and I'm really happy for both movies and music. |
