Anyone familiar with this device? I am thinking of puttting all my CD's on an external hard drive and usining this to link to my stereo, which is in another room. I will be using an ethernet connection. Since I do not have a digital input to the stereo, is the analog conversion in the Squeezebox going to give me true CD quality sound. Here is the link for the specs: http://www.slimdevices.com/pi_specs.html |

Yes. Check out the audiophile section of SlimDevices forum for more detail. I don't have a CD player anymore, but I have two of these and may get a third. |

Hi Nuck, I have listened to the Slim Devices SB at a friends place, I was very impressed!!! His SB was not stock though, his machine had some basic analogue mods performed by Red Wine Audio. I think they by-passed the op-amps in the output stage, and just connected the signal via two fancy-schmancy Auricap capacitors to some high quality (again fancy-schmancy) rca sockets. But yeah, it certainly sounded very nice to my ears. My friend was using Wifi, to access the music that was stored on a Mac. It is hard to guage the performance level, but to my ears at least the playback quality was atleast a match for a mid price CD player from who-ever, NAD, Rotel, Arcam etc etc. Check out these links for details about the SB.... http://www.redwineaudio.com/SB2_SB3_Mods.html http://www.boldercables.com/servlet/Search?category=MODIFICATIONS cheers Rav |
