Im looking for a new cd player that is on the slightly warmer side of neutral to mate with my new Dynaudio Focus 110 monitors, which are slightly forward of neutral. I think that will balance out the sound. My price is $1500-1700.00. Everyone's advice would be mush appreciated. Particularly folks who own or auditioned the Dynaudio Focus Line. |

I would take a look at the NAD line, which are slightly warm. |

You may want to see if you can find a dealer who still has a Rega Planet 2000. |

I love Rotel--in fact, I am listening right now to my Rotel CD player, but I would never describe its sound as being on the warmer side of neutral as requested by michael. |

michael: For your budget and from what you described, the one CD player I have heard that really put me over the moon is the Shanling Tube CD player. See it here: http://www.audioadvisor.com/store/productdetail.asp?sku=MHSHANCD&product_name=CD -T100%20Tube%20HDCD%20CD%20Player I know this is $95.00 over your budget, but dude, this sucker is smoooooth! |

Personally I would stay away from anything Roy Hall is distributing. I haven't talked to a dealer yet who hasn't been VERY dissatisfied with the reliability and performance of their products. |

You should choose a neutral CD player. It is the amp who should do the warm job. |

michael: I just remembered another unit in your price range that sounds much warmer and smoother than the sub $1K CD players. Check out the Musical Fidelity A3.5 CD player here: http://www.musicalfidelity.com/products/a35/a35cd.html I know it is available from www.saturdayaudio.com, but you will have to call them to get their price on it. |
