is this a reasonable entry into the world of tubes? any experiences with it or the onix reference speakers that are packaged with it at a too-low to believe price?

Looks pretty nice to me. I have the Prima Luna Prologue Two and love it. The Onix setup looks interesting.

I've got one. It's a fine amp for the money. I have it powering a pair of DynAudio 42s, which are supposed to be not too easy to drive, and it does so just wonderfully.

I bought mine on sale for $699. I'd suggest waiting until the price drops again if it's still up at $1000.
