my wife has an onkyo receiver tx 906...and wants a pair of bookshelf speakers. they can be up to 7 1/2" wide. she presently has an old pair of floor model HK speakers from an old all in one system. one stereo shop i called has paradigm atom for $200 another has polk 30...same price can you recomend any others or are these ok... i'd prefer to stay in the less than $200 price range thanks...Dave |

You can try the Aperion Intimus 422-LR. A set of A-stock will cost about $180 shipped.

the paradigm atom will be a better bet than the aperion if you don't want to use a sub. They can be used alone for casual listening to my ears.

Wharfdales are bigger than the size he specified. Can't find much info on the Atom on the Paradigm website. I would also recommend the Monitor Audio R90. They work very well without a sub, but you would have to go to the $300 range for them.

take it from someone that HAS the atoms (ie: myself) that they work very well for casual listening without a subwoofer. |
