I moved recently and, when hooking up the old Sony tuner, discovered an interesting problem. When the tuner is plugged in (before it's turned on) it makes a clicking sound. When it's turned on, there's a blinking red "P" on the screen that renders all function inactive. Does anyone know what this could mean? I no longer have the manual. thanks!! |

It might stand for protection. No sound comes from the speakers, just an intermittent clicking sound from within the tuner (almost like its trying to turn itself on and off). |

The operation manual says: A serious trouble has occurred such as overheating or short-circuiting. Refer servicing to qualified person. Check all the wires for touching. Especially the speaker cables at the receiver and the speakers. I have a similar problem. Unpluggin/pluggin back in makes it work for a couple of hours, the P again. I took all the cables out, attached one speaker and used the tuner. Same problem. Something inside is probably short-circuiting. |
