I have just purchased a Denon 2804 and have been unable to produce any sound from my DVD which I have connected with Optic cable. I have set the DVD for this connection and a red light is visible at the receiver end of the cable. If I use RCA connectors the audio works, just not with optic cable. I have checked the connections many times. The Denon manual is a little confusing in this area although I am sure that I have dedicated the top optic port (#17 from set-up) to my DVD. Any suggestions?

As a follow-up to my post above, I have purchased a Co-axial digital cable and the system works just fine. Can anyone tell me if the red light produced at the terminus of the Optical cable is indicative of an operational cable? The optical cable I was using is brand new with no outward signs of damage (i.e. no kinks, bends or scuffs).

Pardon the question but I do not see a Denon 2804 listed on their website. Could you have a 1804 or a 2803?
