I am thinking about buying a dab radio.any suggestions on what to look out for or which 1 to get?I am currently considering cambridge audios dab300 or dab500, is there any considerable difference between the 2? |

The dab500 is a much better receiver from a technical point of view. Better DAC, quality output circuits. Probably won't make much difference to what you actually hear due to the old form of DAB used in the UK and also the low bitrate, compressed transmissions. There have been recent rumours of licenses being issued for L-Band transmissions. The Cambridge units don't have that band, so something like a Pure 702, which has L-band, might be better. In the longer term, radio via the internet will offer better quality than DAB or FM, when broadcast using the 128 kbps AAC codec. Have a look at this site - http://www.digitalradiotech.co.uk/
