Hello all- I recently aquired my fathers BSRMacDonald turntable for which I purchased a new audio technica cartridge which mounted nicely with a 1/2" mount attachment. I connected the individual wires to each connector pin (red-right, white-left, green-right grnd, black-left grnd) and I'm only getting sound through the left channel, when I switch the white and red connectors I get sound in the right channel. I originally thought it was the hard wired rca cords but each cord alternately carries the signal. It seems that whichever connector pin (right or left) that the red connector is on is the one that doesn't work- though the soldered connection seems firm. Any ideas? There does seem to be some build-up (dark) on the connectors- does anyone know if this could be the cause and if so how to safely clean them?
