So my old (Teac AG -V3020) receiver from high school will turn itself on as soon as it is plugged in (without me doing anything), run for 20 secs then shut itself down. This cycle can be repeated if it sits unplugged for about 10 mins. I am curious if receivers have an internal shutdown mechanism if a thermal event or other fault is detected? It will play music and lasts 20 secs every time. If i turn it off while it is cycling then the delay restarts at 20 secs. Could this problem be fuse related or should it just be junked? Any input would be great, thanks.

There could be numerous things going wrong that would trip the protection devices. If you can afford the expense, a new receiver would probably be the wisest move at this time. The Teac wasn't meant to be a receiver that got repaired but instead got replaced.
