Hello all, I've been reading a lot about hdmi connections because I have a plasma TV with hdmi connections and I want to get a receiver for home theater surround sound/music system. I'm thinking of getting jvc rx-d702b. I've read a lot about the problems of hdmi and I have a question. If all hdmi require HDCP (high-bandwidth digital content protection), what will happen if I have an equipment such as a dvd player that does not have HDCP but hooked up to my receiver. Then my receiver upconvert the signal to HDMI to the display. Will it display the image at all or am I going to have trouble with older equipment.

No real answer since it will be system dependent. The most likely situation is you will have problems if the equipment is more than about five years old.
