My living room is 16ft.x 18ft. with my entertainment system on one wall and my sofa and recliner up against the opposite wall. There is no possible way i can put my surround speakers behind me. I was wondering if I should mount the speakers where the wall meets the ceiling in the corners or put them on stands at about ear level on either side of the sofa??? Also, should I face the speakers directly at me or slightly towards the middle of the room? Any comments or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!

I suggest that you experiment with a variety of speaker locations and put them where they sound the best to you. Dolby has a web site with some recommendations for HT speaker locations (http://www.dolby.com).
