Hi,
I am new to the world of speakers and receivers and I want to buy a 7.1 AVR with matching speakers. So what are the technical things I have to look for when buying the AVR and the speakers seperately.
I am interested in Bose Acoustimass 10 speakers. But their speca says 5.1. So can I add two extra speakers to make it 7.1. I want to buy the yamaha RXV 2500 receiver. So do these work good with each other.
Thank you
Andy

No! The Yamaha is a fine receiver but the Bose speakers are among the markets worst. To help we will need to know what are your listening preferences? What is your budget? What is the purpose of the system...music, movies or both, and which is most important to you?

The following link will show you just how wonderful Bose is:

If you are mainly doing HT, you don't need to spend more than $400 for the receiver. Save your money for the front 3 speakers (which do 90% of the work), the subwoofer, and possibly the DVD player.
