I just received great information from a recent post on speakers to get (Ascend Speakers) to go with my new Denon 985.

Until I get my new speakers I've setup the Denon with my old speakers.

When I turn the volume up to 1/2 of what I used to with my old Pioneer 40 Watt per channel receiver, this Denon receiver turns off.

Anyone know what could be the issue?

Thanks, ddeath6

Check speaker wires carefully- if fraying at connection to receiver or along the wire somewhere, this could cause the Denon to shut off.

1/2 of what? Volume? Rotation of the dial?
