i need help. i bought some 1200watt speakers and when i look at amps i see "1200 watts x2 at _ ohms" and "600 watts x2 at _ ohms" what does that mean?

It means the maximum wattage the speakers can tolerate without being fried or going into extreme distortion. What speakers are they?

theyre some JBLs. Real nice. i didnt know if they were wired at 4 ohms or 8 ohms, and i found out they were 4 ohms, so then i just found an amp that put out the same wattage at 4 ohms as the speakers needed. i bought the amp last night. i got help from another message board. Thanks!
