I got an offer for used Linn Genki for $1,600. Very good condition. Anyone has experience with this player? Is it worth it or is there better CDP for this money? Another friend is also letting go of Accuphase DP55 for a lot more. What's your take on these two. Thanks! |

I dislike the Linn quite a bit. I think it lacks resolution, rhythm, pace. In fact I don't think it has any redeeming features, particularly considering the original price in the UK. Now the interesting thing is that $1600 is just under the brand new price of the Genki in the UK when new! I know nothing about the Accuphase, never heard one... Regards, Frank. |

I was planning on getting Rotel's RCD-1072 (MSRP $700) when I ran across a demo unit Linn Genki for $1200. Seeing how the Linn is a $1950 item, it seems like a tempting move to make. Has anyone compared the Rotel to the Genki? Also, the fact the Genki was first released in 1999 kind of gives me pause. Seems like a long time ago, although a mag gave it high marks in July 2005, so maybe that's not something to be concerned about... Any advice would be appreciated, thanks. |
