Recently, I acquired a McIntosh Integrated Amp (MA 6900) , it is currently driving a pair of Joseph Audio Pearls....my dilemma is that I am not very happy with the sound....I am seriously thinking about changing my speakers and I have narrowed my options down to three: 1) Ascends 340 2) Totem Rain Makers 3) Epiphonys For what I can read in your posts these are just great speakers, so please help! Which one in your opinion would be best match? Thank you guys !

No idea...McIntosh is a couple of light years beyond my price range. Nice thing about the Ascends is they have a 30 day in-home trial so you'd just be out about $25 return shipping if you prefer one of the others. The other two you'll only be able to hear in a store with different gear and room acoustics. |

Stradivari, what is it about the sound you don't like? Jeff Joseph makes infinate slope speakers. I personally do not care for the sound of higher order(or slope) crossover speakers as I believe the added phase shift strangles the life out of the music. Could this be what your hearing? Basically, it would sound like this: Bass, midrange and treble seem fine, but there simply is no emotional link between the speakers and you. The music is there.....you can hear it....but you cannot allow yourself to be drawn INTO it. Or is it something else?

Well, Thank you all for the input, specially the three people to whom this thread was dedicated to. Now, I was thinking over night, If I sell my beloved Pearls I could get, 1) 40 pair of Ascends 2) 20 Pair of Rain Makers 3) 40 Pair of Epiphonys or.... As Joseph suggested ( Man he is so brilliant) 250 Pair of SDAT's So, I ask again to our three experts, which option do you guys think will look prettier? And how would I deal with positioning them?

To conclude this post, shall we say this was: A) You showing off your expensive yet (apparently) underperforming system or B) An unsolicited advertisement for Joseph Audio?

Paul, This was not intended for you but I will answer anyway. A) Would be the answer, now underperforming! I don't know, with the kind of gear you own I would not talk. Joseph, You little naughty boy, what kind of language is that? Back to your room to enjoy those rainmakers, nice opportunity to try to convince yourself of how great an expert in Audio gear you are. *wink* Too bad edster did not reply again, he did bite, did he not? lol

Stradivari is obviously one of the 1001 manifestations of Anonymous... The rest of us on the other hand are 1001 anonymous manifestations of manifestation. |
