Anyone know about these speakers? I picked up a sweet pair and they have several differences to the standard D-9. Anyone?

I have more info here…

Among others some of the differences to a standard D-9 is pleated surrounds on the woofer, no grills on the mids, different cab construction, different driver placement, “special edition” on the name plate.

Whoo, DUDE! I think you got something there! I have D9's and have seen a lot
but nothing like yours!

Those could really be worth something. I know THOR at karma has a special addition CV
to that are pretty rare, I had never seen anything like his CV's either until I saw
those and they are pretty rare. So I believe you really got something there and I
would definatly protect them and never mod them babbies.

I hope someone comes up with some info!

Wait till paul sees these, he'll want em!

Paul is really missing out on this one. He probably spent his weekend at his local Flea Market looking for CV's on sale and of course trying to take advantage of the "No tax week"

:-)

Oh, I forgot to include the update on these. I spoke to a person at CV and they said these were a “special edition” (as it says on the grill plates) and have a the woofer designed after the “earthquake woofer” with the pleated surrounds, large magnet and higher power handling, upgraded crossovers, different mids and is supposed to have an elliptical HF driver that is different although mine looks like a standard D-9.

These are nice speakers in spectacular condition and sound great but are not me. I’m older (41) and listen to smoother more dynamic music and my newly acquired Wharfedales W90’s are rocking my boat as they say. These are great for blasting zep, AC/DC, whatever but I don’t do much of that at home… if I could just get these suckers mounted in my truck where the rocking out happens that would be another story.

Paul needs to buy these for his fronts and move the D-9s to the surrounds... and just get rid of those Bose!

Very interesting......

I've never seen, nor heard of that model before. C'mon Kano....Dont you think D9s would be overkill as surrounds?? I wouldnt recommend anything larger than the D7s for surround use......LOL

Nah... Buy the PD-9 to use as fronts, switch your D-9 to surrounds, and your surrounds to back. Retire the Bose!

err...no, so I looked in your profile to see if there was anything in there and found you're a bit of a bright spark, not so bright as to live in warmer climes admittedly but there's never accounting for academics...:-)

I'm guessing that your Klipsch based setup is huge right?

Regards,
Frank.

Yup. I posted a few pics of my setup on the Klipsch web site, where they allow larger images:

http://forums.klipsch.com/idealbb/files/psg_ht_rightside.jpg
http://forums.klipsch.com/idealbb/files/psg_Klipschorn_Elisabeth.jpg

Unfornately broke my digital camera so can't take better ones or from different angles right now.

On the first picture, you see the right side of my HT with the TV on the left of the picture. The speaker farthest right is 3 feet high, and the box next to it is a Hsu STF-3 sub (which looks tiny in the picture).

My only suggestion for improving your setup is that you need a couple handy endtables with enough surface area to hold a few beer bottles and snacks on movie night.

I have a few plastic tables which I moved to get them out of the picture, and there's always the floor.

Kelly,

Did you know that CV where used for Universal’s “Earthquake” with there own patented sound system Sensurround 1974, which I liked a lot when I felt there fury way back then, so be proud of your CV’s, not sure if you have the film “Earthquake” on DVD like I do.

And like pride, I take pride in my JBL set-up with a mighty JBL 4645 sub bass as pictured, soon as I can buy a cheep digital camera, I can get some images of my home cinema up for all to see…..

There ya go.....

Digital cameras take crappy pictures anyway. Well, at least compared to a nice 35mm camera.
