alright, guys, your mission, should you choose to accept it:

What is/would be your favorite bookshelf speakers for (2 channel music listening) at the $600 benchmark?

speakers I'm looking at:

B&W 602 S3
Klipsch RB-35
Paradigm Monitor 3

I'd add the Ascend 340s to that list, but you probably already knew that. ; )

haha, I can always count on eddie to promote his ascends!

honestly, do you own stock in ascend acoustics or what?

lol!

Yes, i have considered the 340's, however without a proper audition, I can't really look too hard at them.

Of all the $600 speakers I've auditioned, the JMLab Chorus 707 impressed me the most. The Monitor Audio B2 is no slouch either. I've never auditioned the Dynaudio Audience 42s, but I've heard they are excellent.

Of the three you listed, I think I'd go with the B&W's.

Just curious -- with a benchmark of $600 why aren't you looking at the Paradigm Monitor 5 instead of the 3?

BTW, for about $80 more you could get a pair of Paradigm Studio 20s. Not too much more money for a big leap in SQ, IMHO.

nah, if I ever bought stock in any audio company it'd be Bose.

As PT Barnum once said, "You'll never go broke underestimating the stupidity of the public!"

oops, correction: he said,

"You'll never go broke underestimating the intelligence of the American public."

(Karl Rove certainly hasn't, heh!)

For the price, those Bohlender/g's are really nice. I heard them on a decent surround amp and they still shined.
