I noticed on my new home theater that when changing menus on the dvd player
that there is a very low audio pop in my speakers. It doesn't do this
unless I change something on the dvd menu. What is this? Is this normal?
It is like right before the audio comes on on the dvd menu, you can hear the
same audio for a split second and then it starts on the dvd audio.

In the audio industry the phenomenon you are experiencing is commonly referred to as "cheap-@ss switching".
