Hi, Need help in understanding how good( or bad) is Denon 1055R compared to NAD 352. They are in the same price range. Are the differences (in sound quality)too much? My only reservation against NAD is its looks. Thanks. Jude

Usually you should buy with your ears and never your eyes when it comes to sound. Also, both companies have a good reputation therefore your choice of either should be very satisfying. All I will say is that after experiencing both, there is no doubt (to me) that NAD wins hands down. I find the quality of NAD better and the sound is not as thin. I am not a fan of japanese developed hardware for audio equipmwent but that could be because my ears are more into a fat sound that NAD gives in all tonal regions. I am not going to say you should do this or that but would recommend a sound check on your part because our opinions are only worth what we like. Maybe you cannot go to the nearest store to compare but do your best to at least listen to one of them. |

I went from a denon dra-685 stereo receiver to a nad c272 amp and a little wonder passive pre... I wanted a significant step up in performance and I did get this: bass much better in fact the denon really was bass shy, clear highs, increased soundstage.... |
