My DVD player is not listed. It"s a Sony MHC-RV9000 (or would it be MHC-RV900D?), a 3-disc changer model that is built in a "3-volume" concept (looks more like a sound system) and accepts CD, CD-R, DVD, VCD and mp3. I live and bought it in Brazil, South America (area code = 4), but I need to play some DVDs bought in Hong Kong. Is there a way to onlock it? Thanks for your attention,

 If you're interested, check out the following site for a decent database of DVD codes. It's got a few machines that other sites don't feature, so I'm recommending it. It seems a good place to go for those rarer machines by the looks of things.
It's actually got a Sony unlock code on one of its front pages. I don't know whether it works though, as I heard Sony machines can't be unlocked with a handset? Who knows. Anyway, here's a link to the free page - the unlock codes might be of some use to you.

Hi,
I recently burned a cue file to cd and when I play it on my sanyo dwm450 it plays but the picture constanly rolls. Does anyone know if this is caused by the microvision? If so are there any hacks to disable it. I know the file is fine because it plays fine on my pc, no rolling or anything.

Further to Nick Fiveash's query regarding changing the Philips PET810 to multiregion, here are the instructions with the handset:-
1. Switch the player on
2. Open the tray door
3. Press 'Setup' on the remote control
4. Select 'Preferences'
5. Press the button with the big right hand arrow (in the centre of the second circle from the top, the circle below 'OK')
6. Type in the numbers 2 1 2 2 2 5
7. Press the left arrow (in the first circle)
8. Press the down arrow (in the first circle)
9. Press O when the screen displays the region code
10. Press setup to exit

DVP-NS29 - Currently available in UK supermarkets (£49.99)
URC 7562 - Currently available at Argos on Special (£14.99)
Follow these steps:
Prepare:
1. Select DVD device on remote
2. Use device setup to set Sony DVD (device code 0533)
Use magic key function on Oneforall to assign following
codes to spare buttons on the remote, you need 5 spare
keys (see manual):
1 - 00189
2 - 00255
3 - 00095
4 - 00221
5 - 00079
Go for it:
1. Remove disk, put player on standby
2. Press the keys associated in order 1,2,3,4,5 above
- SUCCESS is displayed and player starts up
3. Press same sequence again - player shuts down and off
you go!

Hi, I have a problem with my hdcp protocol. Have just bought a samsung hd950 (region 2) It workes nicely, but I can´t seem to find a way to turn of the hcdp. I have an older projektor (tohisba tdp-t1 and it does not support hdcp. This means that Í am not able to watch original movies. This sucks... Please... Please HELP. no seems to be able to helpe me. A word of caution. It bothers me that many of sites today try to sell their wares with little or no after-sales service. Many of the unlock codes I've had the misfortune of using needed different firmware versions that were never mentioned beforehand - or worse, simply didn't work at all. I tried on numerous occasions to follow up a dud code derived from a prominent site and to date, had zero response from them.
I mention this only because I recently became a member of DVDEXPLODER , a website that actually produced a working code for my JVC HR-HV2! - an unlock I'd been searching for relentlessly. Although the unlock was in fact tricky to implement, the website staff helped me all the way until the player became region free. They're a great bunch of technically minded and friendly people, I assure you. Here's a link to there main page - www.dvdexploder.com. If you need some serious advice, I'd strongly advise talking to them, as they really know their stuff.
There's a thread on on this board somewhere concerning Ebay DVD code scams that highlights the hit and run attitude of lots of sites. Once you've handed over your cash, you receive a product where 50% of the codes are useless and are laid out by a 10 year old that has difficulties giving simple instructions. Avoid Ebay at all costs, unless all you want is a list of outdated codes backed up with no customer service help by the vendor. And yes, I did give a bad review to the vendor on that occasion.
Just to say, be careful how you handle your DVD player and use a trusted website to make the thing multi-region. I've mentioned a reputable research site here already, let's hope they can keep up the good work.
Please excuse my rant, I've had it up to my here with poor advice and general Internet skulduggery. |

If you're interested, check out the following site for a decent database of DVD codes. It's got a few machines that other sites don't feature, so I'm recommending it. It seems a good place to go for those rarer machines by the looks of things.
It's actually got a Sony unlock code on one of its front pages. I don't know whether it works though, as I heard Sony machines can't be unlocked with a handset? Who knows. Anyway, here's a link to the free page - the unlock codes might be of some use to you.

have codes for the Daewoo DVG-8300SE, DVG-8400N and DVG-8500N. This is how its done
1 switch on the dvd
2 press Setup button
3 press the following in this order:-
1,3,6,9, left arrow, left arrow, left arrow, right arrow. this activates the "version" enter there choose the region code and set to "0" and voiala your dvd player is now multi region.

I am puzzled. DVD-Audio discs are not "regionalized". They can be copy-protected, but that is a different issue. This whole thread is about DVD-Video, and belongs somewhere else.
Having said that, I think DVD-Video regionalization is a scandal. The best thing to do is check before purchase, or else take a player back to the retailer if it will not play certain discs. Dealers can often fix the problem. And so they should, if they've sold someone a player that won't play their discs. |
