I disconnect my system and unplugged the speakers piled it on my dresser for 3 days and when I went to reconnect it the speakers won't work. What's wrong?

Check to make sure the connection are secure, and make sure mute button is not pressed in - and test every possible buttons - especially funcion button.

If still not working, get a sony cfd-g55 or cfd-g500 for $99 on the web. It sounds good - especially for pop and jazz - not for classical though. Your ears will thank you - perhaps time to find something nice anyway.
