Has anyone had any experience with either the Sony CMT-A70 or the Philips MCM7? The Sony can only be seen in its corporate store in my area and Philips is discontinuing the MCM7. I am wondering if there is any appreciable performance difference (other than the total wattage output of the speakers), and if the Sony has any bass/treble/EQ control. I just had a really nice 7 year old Aiwa unit crap out on me and am buggered to find a unit that is as good as it. The Philips and the Sony seem to be the only ones on the market that have all the same features. Any other recommendations?

If you liked the aiwa, you might want to find a similar one on ebay and save. If you want to upgrade to a better sound, go with separates like these - your ears will thank you.

This plays DVDs too!

These 3 will sound better than Aiwa - make the most of your situation, and upgrade to better sounds.

James, unfortunately the two eBay items have expired and I don't know what they were listings for, and the Toshiba is a DVD player, which I don't need.

I was setting you up with a dvd player (doubles as a cd player), a receiver, and speakers, that will sound better than Aiwa.

If you must have it in a small package, than go with another Aiwa, since you like it so much.

If not, go with separates for even better sound.

If you want to go this rout, post it here for advices on assembling a system with separtes, and you will get many good advices - with your budget.

By getting them used, you can save and end up with better quality.

www.amazon.com has a few aiwa systems.

Another good sounding one is JVC kaboom boombox - has subs built in, for warm sound. You will like the sound of these.
