What do you mean "top 5? Are you referring to sales figures or are you asking for opinions as to sound quality? |

My personal favorite is PSB Image t55, I don't think they're "better" or "worse" than say B&W or Paradigm (don't know the model #'s, but approx $1000 towers), they just sound best with my gear and room, for what that's worth |

1. Ohm MicroWalsh Tall 2. Ohm MicroWalsh Short 3. Vandersteen 1C 4. Magnepan MG12 5. Magnepan MMG With the unique designs of the speakers above, their performance just leap-frogs over everything else (and this includes monitors). You have to start spending a lot more money to pick up where these speakers leave off. This goes especially for the Ohms. |

If pressed to chose I would say. 1.Bohlender Graebener Radia Z 2.PSB Image T55 3.Paradigm Monitor 7 (though at that price I would prefer the Studio 20 bookshelf speaker) 4.B&W DM 603 5.Ohm MicroWalsh Tall Not exactly in that order. If I were buying in that price range I would buy a bookshelf speaker. My best speaker under 1k is the Paradigm Studio 20. |

I like Maggies too but you'd need a serious heavy-duty 4-ohm amp/receiver to run them properly. My recommendation: Ascend Acoustics CMT-340s with Hsu VTF-2 sub or SVS PB10. |

Arthur, wow you must go around auditioning a LOT of high end speakers all the time, what a list! I've thought of doing that, but always hesitate thinking that I'd feel a bit sheepish about it, just like I wouldn't go around test driving exotic sports cars like Lambourghinis and Ferraris... Don't these dealers mind you taking up their time at all? |

GMA Continuum!!!! Actually my favorite speaker so far is probably the Vienna Acoustics Beethoven, but I have by no means listened to as many speakers as some people here. Continuum. They wont even let my kind in the same room with some of the speakers previously mentioned.Continuum. |

I really enjoy going to the high end boutiques and listening to my music on a variety of speakers using a different electronics. I am blessed in that the Northwest has a lot of great audio retailers. This weekend I'm going to Seattle to see my grandaughter's ballet recital and ofcourse I'll visit one of my favorite stores Definitive Audio. They have so much high end gear that you'll find Magnepan 20.1's lining the hallways like discarded trash, amazing. |

Has anyone heard those insane looking B&W's? I think B&W recommends something like five 200 watt minimum monoblocks for each speaker. Look real cool in a catalog, I've never seen them in person nor heard them, but they should sound pretty good for something like $20,000 grand a piece |

has anyone on the forum ever had the pleasure of hearing the MartinLogan statement e2's besides myself? They are easily one of the best speakers I have ever heard, and why I put them in the cost no object category. |

Cost no object? I'd pay musicians to perform in my home (as long as they promised not to trash the guest room, a la Van Halen). |
