Am planning on a pair of KEF Q5s for music only (at least for now). Sounds great in the showroom. I like a lot of bass listening to rock or even classical. Will a subwoofer be a good idea.
Does anyone have input on the combination of floorstanding speakers with a powered sub for music only?

I don't think anyone but you can definitively answer the question as posed: "Will a subwoofer be a good idea." "A lot of bass" is difficult to objectively evaluate. A lot to you may mean not enough for person A. Listen and choose the system that you enjoy.

That speaker goes to 39Hz at -3dB. It might indeed sound better with a good sub handling the very low end (I'd try crossover points or 40 and 60 Hz). I use a sub with speakers rated to 53 Hz at -3db and 45 Hz at -5dB and on certain music it makes uite a difference.
