I want the Hsu VTF, but it comes only with spikes. I have newly refinished hardwood floors. What's are my possible solutions? I don't want to diminish the effectiveness of the sub in any way. Thanks

stick quarters under the spikes or some other material. you could try small pieces of carpet or maybe cloth.

My understanding is that, from an acoustic point of view, a carpet would be best, considering it's downward firing.

Just set the spikes on these: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=38076%26item%3D7314098761 %26%26

or any variety of hard rubber furniture leg protectors you can probably buy at Wallyworld.
