Can anyone please explain how the 2 zone function on the NAD T753 works? Someplaces it says it can only produce mono in the 2 zone, whilst other say it can produce stereo. Is there a correct answear out there?

I just spoke with an NAD tech rep today about this.

One way is to run zone 2 to the speaker B terminals and leave your speaker A setup as either 5.1 or 7.1. Speaker B is driven off the front left and front right speaker channels. When speaker B is activated speaker A will revert to stereo ouput.

To seperately power zone 2, you run line audio (L and R RCA cable) from MS-Out (Multi-Source Out) to to Front Left and Front Right Main in. Then run line audio from Front Left and Front Right Pre-out to Surround Left and Surround Right. Then connect your front left and right speakers to the surround back speakers, however note that there's only one set of speaker terminals for surround back. Therefore your front left and right are converted to a combined left and right. This is all in the addendum to the T753 manual which goes on to state that this allows you to have a 4.1 surround sound system with separate zone 2 stereo output.

Not exactly a clean implementation. For example most other manufacturers power speaker B with the surround back channels instead of the front channels. Thereby allowing you to have 5.1 and 2.0.
