James, I have seen you post about vertigoonline before. Have you purchased from them? I agree there prices as listed are better than Axiom direct, but when I tried to purchase M2s or M22s, the shipping to the US was $150!! With the shipping, Axiom direct is much better if going outside of Canada, IMO. |

Psycadelc: I have not read two more glowing audio reviews than the two I have read for the Epos ESL-3 loudspeaker, which I have priced at HCM Audio for $269.95/pair, which is very close to your budget. I think they are worth checking out--if they are as good as the reviewers say, they would be worth a small stretch of the budget. Here are the reviews: Stereophile: http://www.stereophile.com/loudspeakerreviews/104epos/ Audiofile and AV: http://202.186.86.35/audio/printerfriendly.asp?file=/2003/9/11/audiofile/11epos& sec=audiofile Here is the link for the speakers for sale: http://www.hcmaudio.com/comp.asp?compID=522

Psycadelc: One caveat for the Epos speaker is that it is rated at 4 ohms which might pose a problem for your receiver. Some other suggestions I would make are: Athena AS-B2 - $259 on bestbuy.com Athena AS-B1 - $180 at bestbuy Paradigm Atom - $189 Paradigm Titan - $219 Axiom M2i - $255 with free shipping from axiomaudio.com |

look into the Wharfedale 8.1 speakers; I haven't heard them myself but have read some glowing reviews of them. Amazon has them for about $200 a pair, shipped. |
