Hi Everyone,

I don't have Doblby Prologic IIx on my reciever so I have a question. I gather it supports more channels of surround but other than that does it have any sonic improvement over regular PLII? Being in a 5.1 setup would I notice any difference in sound from a 2 channel cd source if I had PLII (Music) or PLIIx ?

Just curious.

No
It's only relevant if you have 7 speakers.

Canuck:
DTS ES and NEO 6 is a simillar feature to Dolby IIx that have already been included on most 6 & 7.1 receivers for decoding DTS DVDs. The fact that Dolby has gotten into the game is a welcome improvement since there are more Dolby encoded DVDs than DTS.

Dolby IIx adds a back channel to the mix and it does so quite nicely . IIx really creates a more true sounding expanded feild rather than a virtual sounding one. If your receiver only has 2 suround channel speaker outputs (5.1) then it will not include IIx. Look for a modern 7.1 receiver, most now have IIx.
