i have a JVC HX-GD8 stereo system. The bass is ok. Is it possible to hook up a 12" kicker car subwoofer(8ohm) up to this stereo system instead of the subwoofers that came with the system. Would it blow up the amplifier or anything??? i mailed jvc with this question and they wont tell me anything. help plz

I'm pretty sure that idea might fry your system. Home stereo recievers are generaly 16ohm. And if you were gonna hook both the right and left channels up to your Kicker then that would drop it to a 4ohm load. Now if the GD8 has a fuse you'd be ok (you'd just have to replace the fuse everytime it blows) But I've only done this with actual component recievers, not mini systems. If it doesnt have a fuse your gonna end up takin it to the shop...
