This may be a dumb question, but the back of my sterio only has spots for bare wire conectors. The speakers I have use a u-shaped connector. Is it as simple as cutting those off and stripping back the plastic to make the wires bare and plugging them in? I just want to be sure before I go and cut them off. Thanks!

Your cable has a spade connector. If your amp has screw type connections, you can use the spade. If the amp has push type connectors, remove the spade.
