I have 2 cd120c's. they are rated at 650 rms. I havent had the money to buy an adequate amp. I do however own a Str-de685 is a sony house amp.. i would like to know if it would be safe to run one or both of these speakers from this amp, w/o causing damge to the equipment |

It would be fine, just be careful you don't push the amp into clipping - ie distortion. What is the minimum recommended power for the speakers? I'm guessing the Sony will only be able to drive those speakers at low volume. |

Efficiency of the driver is 88db and your receiver is 100 watt per channel which is enough to get it going. Impedence is the big concern. You'll need to wire the voice coils in series to get a 4 ohm nominal load which is minimal for the Sony amp. Don't count on it getting very loud and don't push it. I assume your use of a car sub in the house is just temporary? |
